About

Hello, and welcome to The Teachable Nurse! This blog is a space for nurses and nursing students alike to learn, teach, and comment on the ways of the world of nursing. Because let’s face it. It’s a pretty hectic one.

My name is Morgan, and I am nursing school survivor, two-time NCLEX taker, and nursing career enthusiast. To put it simply: I love nurses. I also love school. So much so that I went back to school just so I could teach nurses. Something I’ve learned since graduating with my Masters Degree in Nursing Education is that my passion for teaching nurses cannot wait. I want to teach, tutor, and support nursing students achieve their goals.

My first nursing job was as a floor nurse on an orthopedic-trauma unit. After a year, I transitioned to an outpatient clinic, triaging patients in a highly acute setting. I have since transitioned to clinical research, and I LOVE IT.

My girl Florence Nightingale said it best: “We must never consider ourselves finished nurses…We must learning all of our lives.” The term “teachable nurse” doesn’t just describe who I am. It applies to any nurse who is open to teaching and being taught. That’s what makes a community. Our greatest asset as nurses is our knowledge. We must be willing to connect with each other and not be afraid to say we don’t know something.

I created this blog to share topics related to anything and every nursing, from tips for starting IV’s to how to prepare for your first job interview. We will cover the practical, the non-sensible, and the outrageous. So come join me as we all become better teachable nurses!
